Interier of the Blue Cave

BLUE CAVE

Seize the magical play of the blue waters and enchanting, luminous ambiance.

The Blue Cave is a geomorphological monument of nature located on the Island of Biševo.

It was first discovered in 1884 by Baron Eugen Ransonnet, describing the interior as a sea deity’s castle.

The fascinating light phenomenon occurs as the sun shines onto the sandy bottom and reflects on the cave walls. The color is most vivid around noon when the sun’s rays penetrate the bottom opening of the cave.

Nowadays, the cave is a renowned tourist attraction. Numerous tourists visit it from Spring to Autumn as there are day tours organized to the Blue Cave from all over the Adriatic.

Upon arrival to the island of Biševo, we will embark a small vessel to enter due to the tiny entrance where you need to duck your head.

The cave tour is guided and once inside, make sure to take some photos of this stunning setting.

Komiza, Vis island

KOMIŽA

Immerse yourself in history as you stroll through the narrow streets of this intriguing fishermen’s town.

If time permits a stop at Komiža is planned after the Blue Cave. Komiza is situated on the island of Vis in the deep Komiža bay. This is a typical Mediterranean place with traditional architecture, narrow streets and houses around the harbour. The inhabitants were mostly seamen and fishermen due to the position and the lack of agricultural land. The important fishing history is shown in the Fishermen’s Museum, one of a kind in Croatia.

Please note Komiža is an optional destination on the tour dependent upon the decision of the crew and the amount of time spent at the Blue Cave.

MILITARY TUNNELS

Uncover the turbulent history of the military island.

The Island of Vis was a major military base used by the Yugoslav army.

Anticipating the Italian attack, Tito commanded to build over 30 military objects across the island.

These fascinating historical remains provide a unique perspective on the events that took place during World War II.

The most visited boat tours are definitely the military submarine tunnels. Those tunnels served as a hiding spot for navy vessels and military submarines up to 110 meters long. Vis Island is not the only one that has these facilities, but it is the most popular due to its unavailability to the general public up to 1991.
